The Automatic Identification System (AIS) is an automatic tracking system used in marine navigation systems and by vessel traffic services (VTS) for identifying vessel position by electronically transmitting the data with other close by ships and AIS Base stations. AIS information connected with other navigational equipment like marine radar, Ecdis, to view the data for the best sailing experience. which also continues to be the primary method of collision avoidance for water transport.
